Steve Yzerman Eroded Hockey Card | Personal Project | Nov 2023 - Feb 2024 | MultiMedia
This project was inspired by @typcollection and his Eroded hockey card of Sergei Fedorov. I wanted to replicate it in a way that felt like I had my own piece of real art in my room. I designed it digitally first, curating lists of materials, and researching all the information I would need on Steve Yzerman, the NHL, and Upper Deck. I needed the correct typefaces and fonts, and the correct scaling of all the logos. I sourced a pair of Easton Air Skates that Steve Yzerman wore in the late 90s in order to capture a feel of authenticity throughout this piece. Every letter that is cutout was done by hand with a coping saw, with the main parts of the Hockey Card being cutout with either a Table-saw or Jigsaw, and the skates cut in half with a Bandsaw.
